Nine years of VEX Robotics. This competition was my childhood, and the dream of becoming world champion carried me through more seasons, late nights, and memorable moments than I could ever fully put into words.

From Skyrise to Spin Up, this is where I learned to think like an engineer, fail like one, and keep building anyway. I started as a supporting member, and was lucky enough to be part of a world champion team in only my second year competing. Having stood on that stage, I knew what it felt like. What I didn't know yet was how to get there myself.

So I kept trying to take on more, season after season, learning to drive, to build, then to program, until I was running the whole process as a one-man team. This archive documents all of it as honestly as I can, and will forever be a place I look back on and reminisce.

Looking back, this is where my obsession with making things started. VEX sparked a love for robotics so deep that it never really left, and it just grew into everything I do now. I wouldn't be the engineer I am today without it.

2014–2015 · Skyrise

Elementary School

The beginning of everything. Spent the season learning to cut metal, build mechanisms, and write first programs in EasyC's block interface. Got my first taste of competition driving a borrowed robot in a practice match at Shanghai Regionals.

2015–2016 · Nothing But Net

World Champions

WRC National Champions

Joined team 9388 as matchloader and team translator. Fully invested from the sidelines. The season ended with national champions at WRC and a Middle School World Championship title — my first time standing on that stage.

2016–2017 · Starstruck

Asia-Pacific 4th seed

Founded and led my first team. Started by studying successful designs and learning the fundamentals of build quality and reliability. Figured out how to tune and sequence autonomous routines. Finished 4th seed at Asia Pacific Robotics Championship and reached quarterfinals.

National Skills Champion

Started breaking from replication, adding original mechanisms on top of proven designs. Wrote my first full autonomous routines from scratch. Finished as Asia Open Runners-Up and Skills Champion.

Asia-Pacific Skills Champion

The season everything clicked. Designed the robot and entire codebase from scratch for the first time. Built custom controls and implemented PID for autonomous. Asia Pacific Skills Champion, US Open Excellence Award, and Middle School World Championship Finalists.

WRC National Champions

Pushed to contribute beyond my own team. My original claw mechanism was adopted club-wide. Pioneered a curved path motion algorithm and PID yaw corrector that became standard across the club. Became 2-time National Champions.

East China Regional Champions

Stepped into the design lead role for the whole club. Produced six robot iterations that served as the club reference. Pioneered a dual-intake system that set the benchmark for skills efficiency. East China Regional Champions and National Skills Champions Online.

Online Skills Champions

Founded the Stonehenge Alliance, a student-led multinational community focused on open-sourcing designs and supporting newer teams. The season was largely affected by COVID, limiting competition to online formats, but we proudly finished as National Online Skills Champions.

2022–2023 · Spin Up

One last run after college apps. Built a new team from scratch, launched team branding and YouTube robot breakdowns. First team in China to develop an adjustable-force puncher for full-court scoring. Integrated custom laser-cut polycarbonate parts. High School National Champions and High School Division World Champions. A dream come true.
